Work Shouldn’t Hurt

Every year we gather in Grant Notley Park at the Broken Families Monument to honour those who have lost their lives as a result of their jobs in the preceeding year.

This past year saw 178 workers die as a result of their job with a 1/3 increase in occupational disease (the category that covers COVID deaths). This increase comes even while the Workers Compensation Board doesn’t offer presumptive coverage to those who contracted the virus through work.
