Our Work, Our Lives – Workers Demand Better
Every year we gather in Grant Notley Park at the Broken Families Monument to honour those who have lost their lives as a result of their jobs in the preceeding year.
This past year saw 161 workers die as a result of their job which is an approx 10% decline from last year. While this decrease is welcome news we know all too well that one is too many and we must constantly fight for the rights of every worker to return home at the end of the day. We knoe that the Workers Compensation Board doesn’t offer presumptive coverage for COVID-19 so we will never know the true total of workers who lost their lives making sure we had what we needed to get through the last year of the pandemic.

We look forward to the opportunity to pay tribute to the 161 fallen brothers, sisters, and comrades in person this year in a long needed moment to come together and heal. We hope to see you there.
